Using Open Grants Data on 360Giving to Support Your Work

360Giving is a charity that helps UK funders to publish their grants data in an open, standardised way so it can be viewed and analysed together. They provide tools and insights to make it easy to share, explore, download and visualise grants data to improve charitable giving. They also provide help, whatever your level of experience with data, through 1-1 support, workshops, training and data consultancy.

Publishing open grants data lets funders demonstrate their transparency and accountability, but the full benefits come from using the data. Whether you already publish your grants data or not, there is now a wealth of information and useful tools available to support your work.

At this interactive workshop, hosted by Ruth Jolley and Katherine Duerden from 360Giving and with insight from Yorkshire Funders member Northern Powergrid Foundation, who already publish their data, you’ll learn how to get the most out of using open grants data. In this session, they will cover:

• How using the GrantNav search engine can support your grants assessment
• How finding overlaps with other grantmakers helps you understand your place in the funding ecosystem
• An introduction to using the UKGrantmaking platform and the data to benchmark your funding against peers and the wider sector

Featuring a presentation with how-to demos, case studies and discussion with peers, we’ll use existing available data on grants and grantmakers in Yorkshire in examples whenever possible. You’ll also have the opportunity to explore the data for yourself and try out some new data skills. And if you don’t already publish your data yet, you’ll find out how to get involved!
