16:20pm – Keynote Address: Governance and Legal Considerations for Trustees

Wrigleys Solicitors LLP discuss key legal responsibilities, governance best practices, and challenges facing charity trustees today.

16:35pm – Perspectives from the Frontline in South Yorkshire

Speaker: Debbie Mathews, Chair of Sheffield Citizens Advice & Law Centre

Debbie Mathews will share insights on the landscape of funding from the perspective of a trustee of both a large Sheffield charity and a front-line charity with no staff. Debbie has spent the last 21 years working in the voluntary and community sector, championing community development and challenging social injustice and inequalities. Debbie recently stepped down as the CEO of Manor and Castle Development Trust after 18 years and is now taking on voluntary work and giving back to a sector she loves and admires. Debbie has also worked in the NHS as a Health Promotion Development Worker and was an elected councillor for four years. Debbie is also a trustee for Hope, S2 Food Poverty Network, Victoria Community Enterprise and is a steering group member on the Sheffield Poverty Truth Commission.

Speaker: Jan Garrill, Associate Director of Yorkshire Funders

Jan will update on Yorkshire Funders support to members through the development of geographic and thematic sub-networks, including South Yorkshire Funders group, the Corporate Foundations network and the Public Sector network.

17:10pm – Round Table Conversations

Facilitated discussions on key themes emerging from the talks, allowing attendees to share insights, challenges and strategies.

17:30pm – Closing Remarks

Final thoughts from Yorkshire Funders and information on upcoming opportunities for engagement.

17:40 – Informal Networking

A chance to continue discussions over drinks and build valuable connections within the sector.
