Come together with other employees and trustees of Yorkshire funding organisations to discuss the Due Diligence vs. Flexibility debate, with IVAR leading the session. Visit the Eventbrite page to book your place.
This 90 minute virtual workshop led by Ben Cairns, Director & Foundation of IVAR (Institute of Voluntary Action Research) will be an opportunity to discuss and debate if and how funders might take more risks, as the organisations and communities that they support grapple with prolonged uncertainty and instability.
IVAR’s research on emergency and flexible funding has found that ‘too much caution can narrow the range of people and organisations funded and what that funding can achieve’, and has encouraged funders to consider if they ‘are taking enough risk rather than too much’. Drawing on this earlier work, as well as the new Open and Trusting grant-making initiative, Ben will outline a set of key questions and choices to help inform a more balanced and proportionate approach.
